Sophia, the Spirit of Wisdom, has woven the multi-dimensional aspects of our lives—personal, relational, cultural, intellectual, scientific, philosophical, and spiritual—into a cosmic web. Burl Hall follows the thread within this web that connects his research in these fields to his personal mystical experience and dreams. In Sophia’s Web, he takes the reader with him ever deeper into the heart of Divine Wisdom.

In her foreword to Sophia’s Web, Carolyn Baker, author of Collapsing Consciously: Transformative Truths For Turbulent Times, says:

“Sophia’s Web is the saga of Hall’s journey from fleeting visions of Sophia in childhood to a mature, surrendered embrace of the Sacred Feminine which now underpins and informs his life, his work, and his connection with the earth community. My primary belief,” writes Hall, “is that the Goddess is the power by which all are born, maintained, and dissolved. It is she who weaves the entire web of life.”  Rarely do we have the opportunity to hear an embodied male acknowledge what the author lays bare in this book. Almost effortlessly he was able to acknowledge, at an early age, not only the feminine principle in the world but the feminine within himself. As with any male socialized within the context of industrial civilization, Hall experienced societal pressure to embrace the patriarchal perspective which prizes a way of life based on power and control. Yet Sophia’s Web reveals a man who has moved through and beyond patriarchal programming to an integration of the feminine principle within himself and who strives to apply Sophia’s wisdom in his life and work.”

READER REVIEWS OF SOPHIA'S WEB

Burl’s Journey Into This Universal Energy Thread Began Around The Age Of Four.
This review is from: Sophia's Web: A Passionate Call to Heal Our Wounded Nature (Paperback)
Have you ever felt drawn into a moving thread of energy that is beyond yourself and seemingly beyond this earthly plane?

Burl Benson Hall began his journey into this universal energy thread around the age of four. His mystic guide, named “Sophia” in Greek mythology and early Christian writings, teaches Burl to experience and understand the feminine and the masculine forces that make up the energy in our universe.

Mystic, philosopher and author Burl Benson Hall brings his experiences, vision, passion and mission to heal our individual inner wounded nature, the natural world around us (our planet) and all of humankind in his book, Sophia’s Web. He transforms a complicated philosophical theory into layman’s terms using his own experiences, poetry, scripture, parables and metaphors. For an example: “She reaches mightily from one end of the Earth to the other and while remaining in herself, she renews all things....and orders all things well. Solomon 7:27, 8:1”

In her foreword to Sophia’s Web Carolyn Baker, author of Collapsing Consciously says: “Sophia’s Web is the saga of Burl Hall’s journey from fleeting visions of Sophia in childhood to a mature, surrendered embrace of the Sacred Feminine which now underpins and informs his life, his work, and his connection with the earth community.”

In my reviews I always quote passages so the reader can get a sense of the author’s style and purpose. These are direct quotations from Sophia’s Web:

“Sophia is the archetypal image of the feminine principle and thus partner to the masculine god. She is present in all traditions, mythologies, and religions-in Hinduism she is Shakti, in Egyptian myth she is called Isis. Traditionally it is in the gnostic, mystical, and alchemical traditions that the feminine face of the divine is central and present.”

“This book purpose, then is to bring peace through the integration of seemingly opposing forces.”

“In order to achieve this peace, much emotional and spiritual work is required, but in Sophia’s Web, Burl and Merry Hall tantalize us with the rewards of doing that work and compel us to embrace the journey with Sophia, “for indeed our lives and our planet depend on it.”

Cold Coffee Press endorses Sophia’s Web: A Passionate Call to Heal Our Wounded Nature by Burl Benson Hall as a personal, relational, intellectual, scientific and spiritual resource for those seeking inner healing and a desire to commune with nature and deity to heal our mother earth. This book was given to us to review in a Kindle e-book format. The review was completed on July 16, 2015. For more information please visit Cold Coffee Press

With great love and a heartful understanding of the very nature of Source, Burl and Merry Hall weave a masterful web in revealing Humanity's true divine nature. Sophia's Web is a veritable treasure trove of wisdom, culled from both great study of the world's wisdom traditions but, most significantly, from personal mystical experience. Yet its true feat is to include the reader, as co-author, on the journey to rediscover themselves in the awakening. Neither preachy nor judgmental, the intrinsic message of Sophia's Web is one of indomitable hope, that Humanity can and will solve its present crisis on Earth by embracing the all-healing unity of the Divine Feminine. What joy!

"Burl Benson Hall's understanding of the unity of humanity and his ability to weave the threads of wisdom, which connect us all to Sophia's Web, make this book an invaluable resource for those interested in a peaceful and holistic life."

Sophia's Web, guides readers back to their natural connection to all thing: Reminding us that beyond the limitation duelist ideology is the expansive understanding that we are one with All That Is.
By Tsara Shelton on May 5, 2015
Format: Paperback
As I was reading Sophia's Web: A Passionate Call to Heal Our Wounded Nature, memories and familiar feelings were forever flirting with me. I thought of my mom suggesting I "go into the pain" during labor. I relived the images I used to have of myself naked in the forest, a woman who could turn into a cat, wordless yet creating my surroundings with knowing. I considered my sons and the gazillions of times I promised them that before they were born they had existed in my beliefs and as infinite possibilities in The Universe's love. And there was so much more.

But then, of course, that was to be expected. I'm certain most readers will remember and feel personal familiarities, because we are all a part of the truth in this book. A book, that in my opinion, makes the world a better place.

With personal stories alongside the poems and stories of so many others--other people, cultures, and times--the author, Burl Hall, encourages us to dance in diversity and oneness. Yin and Yang. The feminine and the masculine.

The dangers of our society today are presented but not without hope. Not without reminding us that we are powerful and able to live differently.

This is a lovely, kind, honest, and hopeful book.
One that offers new ideas we also remember.

ADVANCE PRAISE FOR SOPHIA’S WEB: A Passionate Call to Heal Our Wounded Nature

“A most wonderful and inspiring book, incandescent with personal visionary experience and words that communicate in prose that is often poetry. It is offered to us by Burl and Merry Hall both as a revelation of Sophia as Divine Source and Container of all and, drawing on the work of outstanding scientists, the clear elucidation of a new paradigm of reality that supports this revelation. Knowing that we are all embraced by Sophia’s Web of Life could lift us out of our enslavement to the old dualistic patterns, old divisive beliefs and habits that are derived from fear and that now need to be transformed in a splendid affirmation of love for all creation. As they write: we need to awaken to the realization that “We are all a unity in the Godhead.”              ~ Anne Baring, author of The Dream of the Cosmos: A Quest for the Soul

“Sophia’s Web is a passionate call to heal the destructive divides of modern life and embrace a unified cosmos rendered once again whole, told from the fiery depths of personal experience, mythology, philosophy, and science.”   ~ Kenneth Worthy, author of Invisible Nature: Healing the Destructive Divide between People and the Environment

Sophia’s Web is “His”story and “Her”story woven together with contemporary and ancient texts, personal visions, dreams, and philosophical study.  It embodies a whole new approach to “Charlotte’s Web,” bringing up to date the core of the separation, whether it be animal, human, insect, Earth, or the Cosmos.  The oneness of the divine in all, and the equal value of every being is portrayed, whether the “femininity” of Mary Magdalene/Jesus, or the “masculinity” of Shiva/Kali.  Reverent and irreverent, raw and refined, with a rigorous intellectual, emotional, and spiritual workout, it is revealing and authentic!”     ~ Cynthia Piano, Creator of Oneness House,   www.onenesshouse.net

"I’ve long enjoyed the energy and heart that Burl Hall brings to his article postings at Opednews.com. Sophia’s Web weaves together Burl’s unique, heartful vision, in the process, taking it to a new levelThough non-fiction, the book has been written so it draws the reader in and induces a story trance in a spiritual and artistic way.  Hall weaves his words beautifully, while bringing in ideas from such luminaries as Jung and Rumi.  Indeed, Hall seems to have taken Rumi so deeply into his heart and spirit that there were points in Sophia’s Web where I thought “That’s Rumi speaking!” This book pulls together the holistic Earth-Wisdom of many physicists, philosophers, psychologists, and myths. This book will inspire you, get you thinking in new, out of the box ways and give you hope for the future of humanity within us all."     ~ Rob Kall, Editor-in-Chief, OpEdNews,      http://www.opednews.com

"In Sophia’s Web, Burl Hall has masterfully articulated a long overdue vision of human evolutionary transformation found reflected within the inherent integrity of Creation itself. This is a book of deep scholarship and heart. It is a purposefully passionate proposal for humanity to once again ‘humanize’ itself by reclaiming Gaian consciousness as our birthright—a birthright inspired by the perennial wisdom of a planetary Goddess culture. It is a work of great merit–I highly recommend it!"    ~ Don Oscar Miro-Quesada, co-author, Lessons in Courage: Peruvian Shamanic Wisdom for Everyday Life and founder of The Heart of the Healer (THOTH) Foundation
